MODERNIST FORMULAS

The hero of the project is Yekaterinburg, a city of millions, an industrial city, of practical gray color. But it is also a city of constructivism, neoclassicism and Soviet modernism. It became interesting for me to combine the history of the city and its present. And my Yekaterinburg turned out to be the perfect model. My personal play with the means of expression, techniques, visual perception, and my aversion to triviality has reached a new level - the level of playing with the viewer. How to turn everyday objects that have become so familiar that they are no longer noticed into a mystery? A new angle, an experiment with color, a photo collage, a montage - and the viewer is already playing "Guess the place". Later this game It began to spread to other cities, and the idea appeared to unite cities together through recognizable elements.

The main idea of this series of photographs is a visual dialogue between the Soviet past and our time. The photographs are made in the collage technique and explore the connection between Soviet park sculptures, architectural forms, and contemporary art objects. The park sculptures are old figures in parks that reflect the ideas and style of that time. The architecture includes forms of constructivism, 1980s modernism, and industrial objects that create a backdrop for this culture. The contemporary art objects respond to this legacy. They change and decorate old places, adding new meanings.

The collages show how the past and the present live together and communicate. This creates a multi-layered visual story, often with a touch of irony. In this story, old forms and new art speak to each other, revealing the complexity and beauty of the city. The series invites us to look at familiar things in a new way and to feel the flow of time.
